Charcoal Decavitator
A Splatana known for the strong painting of its sheathed horizontal slash and its sweeping quick-draw charged slash (a wide one-hit area and the longest lunge of any Splatana). The basic play is to spread paint while watching for openings, then cut down careless enemies in one strike. It's really bad at fighting once it's been spotted. Strengths
- Horizontal slashes paint a wide strip with no gaps, great for cleaning up turf, securing the zone and building special
- The charged slash's blade is wide, and its one-hit range is the longest of any Splatana
- The longest lunge of any Splatana, so you can close the gap in one go, even through enemy ink
- Even if the blade misses, landing the charged slash's 80-damage projectile lets you finish right away with a horizontal slash projectile
Watch out for
- Slow swings, and the charged slash is slow to come out with slow projectiles, so its TTK is slow and it's weak in head-on fights
- Its attacks sweep sideways, so it's bad at hitting enemies on high ground
- Heavy ink use and a long ink lockout, so you run dry easily after using your sub
- Outranged by Chargers, Stringers and long-range Shooters, and Rollers beat its one-hit range
- Big windup and end lag on the charged slash, and the lunge can carry you past the enemy so you whiff
Tips
- Normally, spread paint with horizontal slashes to build special while hiding in ink to watch the enemy
- Lunge in with a charged slash on enemies looking the other way. If they spot you first and start shooting, back off instead of forcing it
- Always follow up a charged slash, either finishing with a horizontal slash or retreating. Don't just stand there
- Suction Bomb uses about 70% of your ink, so refill before moving on after throwing one
